Governor Masari imposes total lockdown in Daura after wife and children of medical doctor who died of COVID-19, tested positive for the virus
Governor Aminu Masari has imposed a total lockdown in Daura Local Government Area with effect from 7am today April 11, after the wife and two children of the medical doctor, who died of Coronavirus in Daura, had tested positive for the ravaging disease.
Addressing newsmen yesterday, Masari said people residing in the local government were given an opportunity to buy whatever they wanted yesterday April 10.
He disclosed that the measure became necessary after the death of an index case from Daura. Samples from 23 people who had contact with the late Coronavirus patient have been collected, out of which three (his wife and two of his children) have tested positive.
Masari said;
 “Daura and its environs will be totally looked down from tomorrow 7am. The committee is already in place to identify medical and food stores that will be opened within the period of lockdown.
“A meeting held with security agencies, Emergency Response Committee under the Deputy Governor and other stakeholders deliberated on the steps to be taken to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the state.”
While the three people who tested positive for the virus have been sent to the isolation centre at the Federal Medical Centre in Katsina where they will be cared for, three patent chemists and medicine stores, three grains stores and grocery stores will remain open during the lockdown in the local government.
